Context
Playloom Kids is an iPhone and iPad app that teaches first English words to preschoolers who can't read yet. Each day it picks a few short games for the child's age. Every game is a routine of three or four steps, and every step is one gesture: a tap, a drag or a rub. A narrator says every word, a hand shows what to do, and there is no text on the child's screens, no score, no timer and no losing.
The app has no ads, no accounts, no purchases and no network code. Everything stays on the device.
Responsibilities
- Built the app in Godot with GDScript. Every game is a declarative JSON file played by one engine, so a new game needs no code.
- Planned the curriculum from child development research, with a brief for every game.
- Made the art and narration pipeline: images generated in batches from reference frames, and voice lines synthesised per game.
- Wrote property-based tests that play every game with random input and check the layout on every phone and tablet shape.
